2007 proudly marked the fifth anniversary of Morpheus Trading Group. Commencing in mid-2002 with the launch of its flagship newsletter, The Wagner Daily, MTG has since grown to provide additional services to meet the needs of all types of investors, including the 2004 launch of the Morpheus Capital hedge fund. Clearly, we could not have done it without the ongoing enthusiastic support and patronage of our loyal subscribers from around the globe. For that, please accept my sincere message of gratitude. As 2007 rolls to a close, this issue of The Wagner Weekly will break away from the usual format of weekly market analysis and commentary to recap the year, as well as let you know what to expect in 2008.
How did everything go in 2007?Through the ups and downs of the stock market over the years, I'm proud to say that Morpheus Trading Group remains one of the few companies that publishes detailed historical performance of every ETF and stock trade taken in The Wagner Daily and MTG Stalk Sheet newsletters. Further, the model trading account is structured in a very realistic, user-friendly manner; unlike some newsletters that throw out 20 or 30 simultaneous trade setups, expect you to pick the best ones, and then acknowledge only the trades that happen to do well.
As occasionally happens to everyone in the trading business, the law of averages was not our friend in the first half of this year. But after sticking to our master trading plan and spinning our wheels for just a few months, our trade performance reverted back to consistent profitability in a big way. We're pleased to report that the results from all of this year's stock and ETF picks will once again outperform the main stock market indexes by a wide margin. As of today, the sum of all ETF trades taken in The Wagner Daily newsletter equates to an 11.9% gain in 2007. Trade results from individual stock picks of the more active MTG Stalk Sheet are even more exciting, currently showing a year-to-date gain of 31.3%. By comparison, the S&P 500 is presently showing a year 2007 gain of just 3.6%. What's in store for 2008?Never satisfied with merely resting on laurels, Morpheus Trading Group has a lot of exciting things planned for 2008. First and foremost, be assured we will continue providing you with a steady stream of quality market and sector analysis, educational commentary, and detailed stock and ETF trade setups. As I enter the sixth straight year of personally writing each issue of The Wagner Daily newsletter, I am pleased to say that my passion for educating traders and investors remains as strong as ever! Whenever I receive e-mails from subscribers, thanking me for lessons learned and profits earned, it always fills me with satisfaction that comes from the sharing of knowledge. As such, I look forward to another year of working hard for the members of MTG.
By popular demand, we also have exciting live trading seminars and workshops planned in 2008, beginning with my Live ETF Trading Seminar in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on February 9. Details for other scheduled events can be found on our regularly updated Upcoming Trading Seminars web page. Please note that the $100 early bird registration discount for the February 9 seminar in Ft. Lauderdale expires on December 31, so you may wish to reserve your seat quickly.
Finally, be on the lookout for my new hard-bound book on ETF trading strategies, scheduled to be published by Bloomberg Press by mid-2008. It has been seven years since I co-authored both The Long-Term Day Trader and The After Hours Trader, so it was a lot of fun writing the new ETF book. Seminars and workshops to supplement the book are on tap for late in 2008.
